CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel cross country teams will travel to Hardeeville, S.C. to compete in the 12th Annual Sand Shark Invitational this Saturday, Oct. 20.

Directions for Parking
To get to the course from I-95, take exit 8 onto Rt.278 east to the first traffic light (within a quarter of a mile of the exit). At the light, take a left and continue straight for approximately one mile. Take a right on Red Dam Road and go approximately a half mile to the second entrance onto the Hardeeville School complex. There will be a special parking lot for team buses and vans near the starting area. The parking for teams will be within 200 meters of both the start and finish areas.

Course Information
- The course, which played host to the 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2016 Sun Conference Championships, is flat and on grass and trails except for road crossings.
- Five athletes will score with the next two displacing. Any remaining athletes will not influence scoring in any way. Race will be chip timed. Team and individual prizes will be awarded to the top two teams and ten individuals in each race. Unattached runners will not be eligible for awards.
- The men's course record for the 8K is 24:05 by Evans Kirwa from Embry Riddle set in 2012, and the women's record is 17:05 set by Emily Kearney from SCAD Atlanta set in 2017.

Last Time Out for The Citadel
- Most recently named SoCon Runner of the Week, Colin Martin took 6th overall with a final time of 26:53 in the Charleston Classic.
- For the third race in a row, Sophomore Amber Opp was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 9th overall with a final time of 19.12.1.
- The Citadel men took fourth place overall in a field of five teams by a score of 90 with Bulldogs scoring in 6-18-21-22-23 as the women took fourth place overall in a field of six teams by a score of 99 with Bulldogs scoring in 8-16-24-25-26.
