Citadel Cross Country Teams Finish Top 15

BEAUFORT, S.C. - The Citadel cross country teams finished competition in the 12th Annual Sand Shark Invitational this Saturday morning.

How It Happened (Men)

The Citadel took 13th place overall in a field of 33 teams by a score of 369 with Bulldogs scoring in 25-55-81-96-112.
Graduate transfer Colin Martin was the top finisher for the Bulldogs for the fourth consecutive race, placing 25th overall with a final time of 26:33 with an average mile pace of 5:20.5.
Freshman Lane Johnson continued to impress as he took 56th place in the field, running a new personal best of 27:23.2. Devin Heisler, Jeremy Shipley, and Eric Avalos rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs taking 107th, 128th and 135th, respectively. The field totaled 281 runners.
Embry-Riddle stood at the top of the leader board with a final team score of 58.

How It Happened (Women)

The Citadel took 14th place overall in a field of 34 teams by a score of 459 with Bulldogs scoring in 25-52-99-138-145.
For the fourth race in a row, Sophomore Amber Opp was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 25th overall with a final time of 19.13.3. Opp averaged a pace of 6:10.80 per mile.
Casey Miller would be the next Bulldog to cross the finish line with a time of 19:45.30, taking the number 52nd spot.
