CHARLESTON, S.C. - The 2018 Southern Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are set for Saturday, Oct. 27, at Western Carolina in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The event will begin with the men's 8K race at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 5K race at 10:45 a.m. An awards ceremony, which will honor the top team and individual performances, will follow at the conclusion of the women's race.

- The Citadel men took 13th place overall in a field of 33 teams by a score of 369 with Bulldogs scoring in 25-55-81-96-112 in the Sand Shark Invitational.
- Graduate transfer Colin Martin was the top finisher for the Bulldogs for the fourth consecutive race, placing 25th overall with a final time of 26:33 with an average mile pace of 5:20.5.
- The Citadel took 14th place overall in a field of 34 teams by a score of 459 with Bulldogs scoring in 25-52-99-138-145.
- For the fourth race in a row, Sophomore Amber Opp was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 25th overall with a final time of 19.13.3. Opp averaged a pace of 6:10.80 per mile.
Last Year Results
- The men's team took ninth place last year after being led by former Bulldog, Michael Lantz who took 34th place with a time of 26 minutes, 37 seconds.
- The women took tenth place and were led by Opp who placed 38th overall and was the first lady Bulldog to cross the finish line with a time of 19:02.70.
