CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team welcomes non-conference opponents Hofstra and Northern Illinois University to McAlister Field House for the first duals of the 2018-19 season at home on Saturday, Jan. 19.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a loss against George Mason where they fell by a final score of 18-31 despite four cadet-athletes recording victories in their matches.
In last year's contest against Hofstra, senior
Sawyer Root picked up a 6-1 decision to give the Citadel three team points.
Douglas Gudenburr tallied a victory against NIU, picking up a fall in only :56 seconds. The Citadel will hope to gain some momentum going into SoCon matchups the following Wednesday.
The duals will be broadcast on the SoCon Digital Network and stats will be available at CitadelSports.com. Post-match there will be an opportunity to meet the cadet-athletes and take pictures with them in front of the new Citadel Wrestling backdrop.
