CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel baseball team held its first official practice of the 2019 season Friday afternoon at College Park. The practice started with a batting practice session before playing an intrasquad scrimmage.
 
"It feels good to be out here," said head coach Tony Skole. "We have 21 days until the opener and it has been a great fall and winter for our guys. There has been a lot of retention so we are excited to get underway."
 
Jordan Merritt got the start for The Citadel Blue, while Zach Taglieri got the start for Navy. Ben Peden drove in the first run of the spring by going the other way with a run-scoring double through the left side.
 
The Bulldogs will continue their weekend practice with scrimmages on Saturday and Sunday.
