Frierson Scores 1,000th-Career Point, Bulldogs Fall to Terriers on the Road

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Senior guard Matt Frierson netted his 1,000th career point Thursday night with his second of three free throws with 4:25 to play in the first half of a game at Wofford, but The Citadel men's basketball team fell, 112-81, to the hot-shooting Terriers.

KEY STATS
  • Wofford led for over 34 minutes of the 40-minute contest, leading by as many as 35 in the second half.
  • The Terriers shot 67.2 percent (43-of-64) from the field for the game, while the Bulldogs hit on 44.3 percent (27-of-61) of their attempts from the field for the game.
  • Zane Najdawi opened the game with a 3-pointer 34 seconds into the game.

  • For the seventh game in a row, at least three of the Bulldogs' Starting Five finished the game in double figures led by Najdawi's 18 points, Reed's 16 and Stallworth's 14.
  • Kaiden Rice made his first collegiate start, while Reed made his first start of the season.
  • Frierson entered the game needing just five points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his career and scored six points, all in the first half. He joins fellow senior Najdawi as having eclipsed the 1,000-point total and is the 34th Bulldog to accomplish the feat.
  • Both Najdawi and Frierson netted their 1,000th-career point off free throws.
  • With his 3-pointer nearly five minutes into regulation, Frierson kept his current streak alive at 51 straight games with at least one 3-pointer made.
  • With his 14 points Thursday night, Stallworth has now scored 696 career points.
