  • The Bulldogs return home and welcome Mercer to Johnson Hagood Stadium on Oct. 26.

Inside The Numbers
360 - The Citadel rushed for a season-best 360 yards on 61 attempts in the upset victory over No. 8 Furman. It marked the second-straight week the Bulldogs set a game-high for rushing.
216 - The Bulldog defense held Furman, the 12th-best offense in the country at 463.5 yards per game, to just 216 total yards. It was the fewest yards for Furman since the 2014 season.
165 - Brandon Rainey ran for 165 yards on 26 carries at Furman. The effort came just one week after Clay Harris rushed for 166 yards against Western Carolina.
24 - The victory over No. 8 Furman marked the 24th victory by the Bulldogs over a ranked opponent. It is the first win over a ranked foe since knocking off No. 20 Samford and No. 5 Chattanooga in 2016.
8 - The Bulldogs defense has recorded eight sacks over the last two games. The Citadel added two sacks against Furman after six against Western Carolina. Marquise Blount has 2.5 and Joseph Randolph II has two.

On This Date
In 1996, Deon Jackson rushed for a career-high 146 yards and two touchdowns as The Citadel defeated Georgia Southern, 35-20, at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The Bulldogs tied the game early in the third quarter on Jackson's 63-yard touchdown. After an Eagles touchdown, Carlos Frank returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. A pair of fourth quarter touchdowns helped put the game away for The Citadel.

The Game
The Citadel return to the friendly confines of Johnson Hagood Stadium as it welcomes Mercer for Homecoming on Oct. 26. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

All games this season can be heard live on 92.1-FM/102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston. The new voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, will be joined by Ted Byrne in the booth.

ESPN+
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Kevin Fitzgerald will have the call. He will be joined in the booth by Matt Dean with Emily Crevani on the sideline.

The early forecast is calling for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low-70s during the day.

Homecoming
The Bulldogs are 41-24 all-time on Homecoming. The Citadel has currently won seven-straight Homecoming contests, including a 44-27 victory over Samford last season.

vs. Mercer
Saturday's game marks the 17th meeting between the two schools with the Bulldogs holding a 10-5-1 advantage in the all-time series.

Duo Earns Weekly Honors
Outside linebacker Marquise Blount and kicker Jacob Godek were honored by the Southern Conference for their efforts against Furman. Blount was named the defensive player of the week, while Godek was tabbed the special teams player of the week. The honors are the second of the season for each.

Knocking Off Top 10 Opponent
The Bulldogs went on the road and knocked off a Top 10 opponent for the first time since 2016 with a 27-10 victory over No. 8 Furman. It is the 24th overall victory against a ranked opponent.

216 Yards
The Bulldog defense held Furman to just 216 yards of total offense. The Paladins entered the contest ranked 12th nationally in total offense at 463.5 yards per game.

44 Passing Yards
The Bulldogs held Furman to just 44 yards through the air. It marks the fewest passing yards since Wofford threw for just 26 in the 2018 season opener.

Another Sack for Blount
Marquise Blount recorded another sack when he stripped the Furman quarterback and set up a Bulldog touchdown. Blount has 2.5 sacks over the past two weeks and 4.5 on the season.

On the Ground
The Citadel used a strong ground attack to defeat Furman as the Bulldogs rushed for a season-best 360 yards against the Paladins. The Bulldogs had eight different players carry the ball and three players reach the end zone. It was the most yards for the Bulldogs against the Paladins since rushing for 388 yards in 2015.

Rainey Over 100
For the first time since the season opener, quarterback Brandon Rainey eclipsed the 100-yard mark when he ran for 165 yards against Furman. Rainey ran for a season-high 169 yards against Towson.

Harris Finds the End Zone
B-Back Clay Harris found his way into the end zone for the first time this season when he scored from four yards out on the opening drive against Furman. He finished the game with 31 yards on 11 carries.

Godek Splits the Uprights
Kicker Jacob Godek kicked a pair of field goals in the victory over Furman. The senior connected on both field goals late in the fourth quarter, first hitting from 30 and then from 46.

The Bulldogs open the month of November on the road as they travel to face ETSU on Nov. 2. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
