All patrons attending Citadel football at Johnson Hagood Stadium are reminded of new security policies for the 2019 season.  All patrons will be inspected by metal detection upon entering stadium.  Please arrive early to avoid long lines.

  • One gallon freezer bag (Ziploc)
  • Small clutch bag 4.5"x 6.5"
  • Diaper bag with infant present
  • Strollers with infant (strollers can be parked out of the way next to entry gates)

  • Backpacks or fanny packs
  • Cinch or drawstring bags (even if clear)
  • Computer, binocular or camera bags or cases

2-Minute Drill
  • The Bulldogs return to Johnson Hagood Stadium as they take on VMI in the Military Classic of the South.
  • Saturday's game will kick at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
  • Pete Yanity will be on the call along with Jared Singleton.
  • The meeting is the 75th all-time between the two schools with The Citadel holding a 42-30-2 advantage in the series.
  • The Citadel is currently on a 12-game winning streak dating back to the 2003 season.
  • Last year, The Citadel handed the Keydets a 34-32 defeat. The Bulldogs stopped VMI on a two-point conversion with less than a minute to go in the game.
  • The Citadel is coming off their longest game in program history. The four overtimes against Samford bests the old record of three overtimes set against Furman in 2005 and matched against Georgia Southern in 2008.
  • The Bulldogs set a program record by running 102 plays against Samford. The Citadel also established a new mark with 95 rushing plays in that game.
  • Quarterback Brandon Rainey accounted for five touchdowns against Samford. The junior ran for three scores and tossed a pair of TD passes. He is the first QB since Aaron Miller in 2014 to have multiple rushing and passing touchdowns in the same game.
  • Rainey has now thrown a touchdown pass and rushed for a score in each of the last five games that he has played.
  • Webb caught two passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns against Samford. It was his second 100-yard game of his career and the first multiple TD game since Brandon Eakins caught two touchdowns against Charlotte in 2014.
  • Webb has now caught a touchdown pass in all five games this season. it equals the mark set by Andre Roberts in 2008.
  • Willie Eubanks III forced a fumble against Samford. It was his second-straight game forcing a turnover.
Inside The Numbers
102 - The Citadel set a school record by running 102 plays against Samford. It was the second time in program history the Bulldogs reached triple digits in offensive plays in a game.
95 - The Bulldogs established a new single-game mark with 95 rushing plays agianst Samford. Emeka Nwanze carried the ball a career-high 34 times, while Brandon Rainey added 29 carries.
84 - Brandon Rainey connnected with Raleigh Webb on an 84-yard touchdown pass agianst Samford. The pass play is tied for the second longest pass play in school history.
12 - The Bulldogs have won 12-straight meetings over the Keydets. The Silver Shako has been in the possession of the Bulldogs since Nov. 15, 2003.
5 - Quarterback Brandon Rainey accounted for five touchdowns against Samford. The junior ran for three touchdowns and tossed two more. He is the first quarterback will multiple rushing and passing touchdowns since Aaron Miller in 2014.

On This Date
In 2013, Thomas Warred kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime to give The Citadel a 31-28 victory over Appalachian State inside Johnson Hagood Stadium. The defense helped set up the game-winning field goal as Mitchell Jeter intercepted a pass on the Mountaineers first possession in overtime. Ben Dupree rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Darien Robinson added 109 yards and two scores.

The Game
The Citadel returns to Johnson Hagood Stadium to take on VMI in the 75th edition of the Military Classic of the South. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

All games this season can be heard live on 92.1-FM/102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston. The new voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, will be joined by Ted Byrne in the booth.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Pete Yanity will have the call. He will be joined in the booth by Jared Singleton.

The early forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and temperatures in thelow-80s during the day.

The Bulldogs hold a 42-30-2 advantage in the all-time series. The series was tied before the Bulldogs have rattled off 12-straight wins in the series.


The Silver Shako
The Silver Shako will be on the line 40th time when the Bulldogs and Keydets battle on Saturday. The trophy, which made its appearance in 1976, has been in the possession of the Bulldogs since 2003.


Longest Game in History
The Citadel played the longest game in school history in the four overtime game against Samford. The previous long was three overtimes against Furman in 2005 and Georgia Southern in 2008. It was the seventh multi-overtime game in program history. The Bulldogs are just 2-5 in those games.


102 Plays
The Citadel set a new single-game record by running 102 plays agianst Samford. It broke the old record of 100 plays set against Charlotte in a double-overtime game in 2014.


95 Rushing Attempts
The Bulldogs ran the ball 95 times against Samford, setting a new single-game record. The previous record for rushing attempts in a game was 84, set against  Western Carolina in 2016.


Taking to the Air
The Bulldogs only threw seven passes against Samford, but they completed six of them for 196 yards and two touchdowns. It was the most passing yards since throwing for 223 yards against Furman in 2017.


Second Longest Pass Play
The 84-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Rainey to Raleigh Webb ties for the second-longest pass play in school history. Webb now owns the top two passing plays in school history.

Webb Over 100 Yards
Junior Raleigh Webb caught two passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns against Samford. It marked the second 100-yard performance of his career. He had eight grabs for 116 yards against ETSU in 2018.


Two Touchdown Receptions
The two receiving touchdowns against Samford marked the first multi-touchdown game of Raleigh Webb's career. He is the first Bulldog with two receiving TDs in a game since Brandon Eakins caught two against Charlotte in 2014.


Multiple TDs on Ground and in Air
Brandon Rainey accounted for five touchdowns against Samford as he ran for three and threw for two more. He is the first QB to have multiple rushing and passing touchdowns in a game since Aaron Miller ran for two and threw for two against Furman in 2014.


Rushing and Passing TD
Quarterback Brandon Rainey has rushed for a touchdown and thrown for a score in each of the last five games he has played. The junior has done it in all four games he played this season, and also in the 2018 season finale against Charleston Southern.


Webb Catches TD in 5th-Straight Game
Wide receiver Raleigh Webb caught an 84-yard touchdown pass against Samford. The junior has now caught a TD pass in all five games this season. The streak equals the mark set by Andre Roberts during the 2008 season. Roberts holds the record for 10-straight games with a receiving touchdown. He caught a TD in the final six games of the 2007 season and the first four games of the 2008 season.


Nwanze Carries the Load
Redshirt freshman Emeka Nwanze carried the ball a career-high 34 times against Samford. He finished the day with a team-high 78 yards. It is the most carries since Lorenzo Ward carried the ball 35 times against Towson in 2018.
