CHARLESTON, SC – The Citadel Department of Athletics will hold open tryouts for the 2019-20 cheerleading squad and Spike T. Bulldog.

Those wishing to try out for the team must register by sending in a complete cheerleading tryout packet to head cheerleading coach Fraser Speaks (fspeaks@citadel.edu).

Cheerleading tryouts for cadets will be held on Saturday, April 6, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The application for tryouts is due by Friday, March 29 by 5 p.m.

Cheerleading tryouts for non-cadets will be held Friday, April 12 – Saturday, April 13 at McAlister Field House. Tryouts will begin on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. They will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m. Tryout application is due by Sunday, April 7 by 5 p.m.

Video tryouts will be accepted only under special circumstances with permission from the head coaches.

Spike T. Bulldog Tryouts
Tryouts to be the next Spike T. Bulldog will consist of two rounds beginning on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. The second round for the finalists will be held the next day, on Saturday, April 6 at 5 p.m.

The first round of mascot tryouts, which will take place in the main gym of Deas Hall, will include a 2-3 minute UCA/NCA-style prepared skit, followed by a 2-3 minute improvisation situation. The round will conclude with a 10-minute interview.

The second round of tryouts for Spike T. Bulldog will feature a live-game situation at The Citadel versus Mercer baseball game at Joe Riley Park.
