
'Dogs Travel to Columbia for Track and Field

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel track & field team will travel to Columbia, South Carolina for their final regular-season meet of 2019, the USC Outdoor Open, this Saturday. The competition begins at 9 a.m. ET at Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
The Bulldogs will join over 25 teams this weekend at Cregger Track, with entrants from the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks as well as NJCAA and NAIA squads. Brown, Campbell,, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Furman, Hampton, South Carolina and South Carolina State join the field from the DI ranks.
Admission to the USC Outdoor Open is free. Free parking is available at the Heyward Street Garage, located at 1300 Heyward Street. Additional parking is available on the street-level spaces on Heyward, Marion, Whaley and Bull Streets, and overflow parking is located at Lot AD9, on the corner of Whaley and Pickens Streets.
Last time the teams were in Columbia, The Citadel took two spots on the podium with Charlie Hatler finishing second and Evan McDonald taking third in the men's javelin. Hatler recorded a mark of 175-10, while McDonald threw a new personal-record toss of 170-3.
For the women, Jessy Page threw a distance of 51.37 meters to take fifth place in the hammer while also taking home fifth in the discus with a throw of 40.5 meters. Anna Barfield tallied an eighth place finish in the javelin with a mark of 114-5.
This will be the last tune up for the Bulldogs before they head to Birmingham, Alabama to participate in the Southern Conference Championships on Apr. 27-28.
