Cross Country Heads to SoCon Championships

MACON, Ga. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams will close out the fall Saturday morning when the compete in the 2020 Southern Conference Championship meet hosted by Mercer.
The men's 8K race begins at 10 a.m., while the women's 5K race will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course.
Sophomore Andrew Smith enters the championships with the fastest 8K time this season at 25:42.60. Freshman Will Ray enters with the fifth fastest time this season at 26:08.80. Ty Duben also has one of the top times in the conference this season at 26:13.50.
On the women's side, sophomore Heidi Fortin enters with the third fastest time this season, with a time of 19:05.62 at the NAIA Southern States Showdown.
Spectators are permitted to attend the event. Masks or face coverings are mandatory while at the competition site, and spectators will not have access to the participants until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
