CHARLESTON, S.C. – The long awaited return of college baseball has finally arrived as The Citadel opens the 2021 season with a three-game home series against Longwood on Feb. 19-21 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

First pitch for the season opener is set for 4 p.m., with a 4 p.m. first pitch scheduled on Saturday and a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.

Stadium Policies
- The Citadel will follow the guidelines set forth by the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
- Capacity will be limited to 1,500 fans.
- Fans who are listed among the CDC's at-risk groups are especially vulnerable and should consider staying home and refraining from attending events.
- Fans exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should not attend.
- Face coverings are required unless eating or drinking. Social distancing will be enforced.

Concession Policies
- New for this season, there will be no walk-up concessions inside Riley Park.
- Fans can order food by downloading the FanFood app.
- Fans can either pick up their order at a designated location, or have the food delivered to their seat for an extra charge.
- All purchases will be made using credit cards. No cash will be exchanged inside Riley Park.

Ticket Information
Tickets for all home games are available on
CitadelSports.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 843-953-DOGS. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office starting one hour before first pitch.

Masks Required
All fans inside Riley Park are required to wear a mask when not actively eating or drinking. Fans are also asked to socially distance inside the stadium.

This weekend's games against Longwood will be carried on ESPN+. Dave Weinstein will have the call.

Bulldogs Add Series with North Florida
The Citadel has announced it will host a three-game series against North Florida at Riley Park on Feb. 26-27. The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play a pair of games at Shipyard Park.

vs. Longwood
The Citadel and Longwood have five times prior on the diamond with the Lancers holding a 3-2 advantage in the series. The teams last met in 2005 when they split a midweek series in Charleston.

vs. the Big South
The games against Longwood will mark the only games this season against teams from the Big South Conference.

The Bulldogs are 28-28 in season openers dating back to 1965.

Opening at Home
This season marks the 15th-straight year that the Bulldogs will open the season inside Riley Park. The Citadel is 8-6 in the previous 14 openers.

Reeves Extends Streak
Sophomore
Cameron Reeves allowed three earned runs in the first inning of his first start during the 2020 season. After that, the right hander did not allowed an earned run in the last 25.0 innings.

Mr. Friday Night
Graduate transfer
Jake Pilarski will get the start on the mound in the season opener Friday night. Pilarski transferred to The Citadel after spending the previous three-plus seasons at Virginia Wesleyan where he earned All-America recognition.

Graudate Transfers
The 2021 roster features four graduate transfers. Infielder
Logan Taplett joined the Bulldogs from Furman. The list also includes three pitchers,
Logan Barker (Liberty),
Zack Jones (Rockford) and
Jake Pilarski (Virginia Wesleyan).

Brown Sets the Table
Senior outfielder
Jeffery Brown will once again set the table at the top of the Bulldog lineup. The center fielder has been at the top of the order for most of the last three seasons.

Two-Sport Star
Right fielder
Ryan McCarthy has excelled in both football and baseball in his time at The Citadel. After leading the Bulldogs with four catches in the abbreviated fall season, McCarthy will concentrate on baseball during the spring.

Experience Up the Middle
The Bulldogs will have plenty of experience up the middle as shortstop
Tilo Skole and second baseman
Tyler Corbitt enter their third season as a double-play tandem.

Quickest to 10 Wins
The Bulldogs got their 10th win of the 2020 season in the 13th game. That was the quickest they reached the 10-win mark since the 2010 team started 10-3.

Best 10-Game Start
The Bulldogs started the 2020 season 9-1. It was tied with the 1990 team for the second-best start in program history. The 1978 team opened the season 10-0.

One New Opponent
The Citadel's 2021 schedule only includes one team it has never faced before. That team is Mississippi State, which happens to be coached by former Bulldog player and assistant coach, Chris Lemonis.

Tyler Corbitt was a preseason selection to the All-Southern Conference team.
