Jeffery Brown went 5-for-5 with his first career home run as The Citadel put a big scare into No. 5 South Carolina Wednesday evening at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The Gamecocks used a big eighth inning to defeat the Bulldogs 11-7.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs struck quickly in the first inning as Jeffery Brown started the game with a base hit and advanced to third on Tyler Corbitt's double.
- Crosby Jones plated a run with a base hit to center before the second run scored on a double play.
- The third inning was a big momentum inning for both teams. The Gamecocks looked they were going to have a big inning as they put two runners in scoring position. The Citadel looked to get of the inning without any damage, but an error with two outs opened the door for our unearned runs to score.
- The Citadel got one of the runs back in the home-half of the inning as Brown tripled into the right-field corner and scored on Corbitt's groundout.
- A leadoff single from Joe Satterfield in the fourth came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Brady Allen.
- The 'Dogs again answered in the bottom of the inning. Ryan McCarthy doubled with one out and scored on a Travis Lott base hit through the left side.
- The Citadel regained the lead in the sixth inning on a two-run blast to right field off the bat of Cole Simpson.
- The Gamecocks were able to get their offense going again with two outs in the eighth inning as four-straight hits resulted in six runs.
- Brown got one run back for the Bulldogs in the ninth with a solo home run to right field.
