CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel will wrap up its 2021 regular season campaign on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. as the Bulldogs host in-state foe Coastal Carolina at the Earle Tennis Center.
Friday's match will double as the program's Senior Day, with
Will Graham being honored in a pre-match ceremony for his contributions to the program.
The Bulldogs (5-18, 0-7 SoCon) will look to end the season on a high note and snap a four-match losing streak. In its last time out, The Citadel fell 5-2 against UNCG but claimed its first doubles point against a conference opponent since the 2014 season as Graham and
Hayden Shoemake took the win at No. 1 and
Josiah Schainblatt and
Zvonko Bencedic won at No. 2.
In singles play,
Lucas Robins claimed a straight-sets victory at the No. 6 spot for The Citadel's second point of the match.
Coastal Carolina is 7-8 overall but is on a three-match losing streak entering Friday's bout. In its most recent time out, Coastal Carolina dropped a narrow 4-3 decision against Wofford on April 13 that came on the heels of 4-1 defeats against Presbyterian (April 9) and Troy (April 11).
The Citadel and Coastal Carolina will be meeting for the 29th time in program history, with the Chanticleerss holding an 18-10 advantage in the all-time series. The Citadel most recently claimed victory with a 5-2 win in 2006 but has dropped seven straight matches in the series since then.
