CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel cadet-athletes recorded a combined department-wide grade-point average of 3.365 for the Spring 2021 semester as every athletic program recorded a team GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Compared to the Spring 2020 semester, The Citadel improved its overall department GPA from 3.301 to 3.365, and boosted its number of programs reaching at least a 3.2 from 10 to all 14.
The women's soccer program tallied the department's highest GPA for an individual team at 3.81, up from an already impressive 3.743 in 2020. Six members of the women's soccer team currently hold cumulative 4.0 averages during their time at The Citadel.
Men's cross country posted the highest GPA on the men's side at 3.546 for the semester.
Overall, 107 cadet-athletes earned Gold Stars (3.7 GPA or higher) from the spring semester. The Citadel had 93 cadet-athletes earn Dean's List recognition, and 61 completed the Spring 2021 semester with a perfect 4.0.
Department-wide, 253 cadet-athletes finished the semester with at least a 3.0 GPA.
At The Citadel's graduation ceremonies in May, more than 70 cadet-athletes received their diplomas, with 10 of those set to commission into the United States Armed Forces following graduation.
