COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track & field teams closed out the regular season Saturday with a return trip to South Carolina for the USC Outdoor Open. Similar to last Saturday's outing at USC, the Bulldogs took a swipe at school records and personal bests, including
Emily Hickey taking down her week-old pole vault record.
Women's Results
- Emily Hickey, who entered the pole vault at 3.10m, cleared the first three heights on her opening attempts before passing the 3.55m (11-7.75) bar on her second try for 11th place to break her own school mark. The sophomore cleared 11-1.75 last week, besting Sam Engel's school record of 11-0.75 set in 2021.
- Ali Ruffin was one inch shy of her top mark in the javelin, finishing fifth with a throw of 37.62m (123-05). Mya Doddard was three spots behind her in eighth at 31.32m (102-09).
- Mecca Jackson led The Citadel in two sprint events, earning 25th in the 100 meters at 12.02 and nearing a PR in the 200 meters with a 27th-place time of 24.46.
- Leah Murray and Cyla Byrd each had personal bests in the 200 meters, with Murray posting 25.37 and Byrd clocking in at 26.00 even.
Men's Results
- Mac Strunk set new PR's in both the 100 and 200 meters at 10.93 and 22.01, respectively. Treonte Newton echoed that with a new personal best 22.08 in the 200.
- Caleb McDonald and Ian McCorkle each set new PR's in the javelin. McDonald measured in at 48.13m (157-11) for 13th place, while McCorkle finished one spot behind him in 14th at 46.21m (151-07).
- Bryce Baglia shaved .03 seconds off his career best in the 800 meters with a pace of 1:54.86 for ninth place.
- Robert Perrecone hit a new career pace in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:17.64 for 16th place.
- Jeremy Walker ran a new best of 51.42 in the 400 meters.
- The 4x100 team of Mac Strunk, Treonte Newton, Luke Segee, and Jeremy Walker finished eighth at 44.66.
