SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference today announced its men's basketball conference schedule, which will begin with Head Coach
Ed Conroy's squad in McAlister Field House for a two-game home stand Thursday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 31.
The Citadel opens its conference slate at home hosting Chattanooga on Dec. 29, followed by a New Year's Eve meeting with Samford. The Bulldogs head out on the road with local matchups at Furman Jan. 4 and Wofford Jan. 7. They return home with a two-game set against ETSU Jan. 11 and Western Carolina Jan. 14. This is followed by a three-game road swing which begins at UNC Greensboro Jan. 19, VMI Jan. 21, and Western Carolina Jan. 25. Coach Conroy's squad finishes out January hosting Mercer Jan. 28.
The Citadel's slate for February includes a home matchup with VMI on Feb. 2 and UNC Greensboro Feb. 4. They head back on the road meeting Chattanooga on Feb. 8 and Samford Feb. 11. The Bulldogs conclude their home SoCon slate against Furman Feb. 15 and Wofford Feb. 18, then wrap things up on the road at ETSU Feb. 22 and at Mercer Feb. 25.
The 2023 Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championship will take place at Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina, from March 3-6.
The Bulldogs' current non-conference schedule features three home games against Presbyterian Nov. 10, College of Charleston Dec. 3, and Longwood Dec. 17. Their road dates are at Butler Nov. 19 and North Carolina Dec. 13. More non-conference dates will be announced soon.

Conference Schedule Notes:
- The Citadel charted six SoCon wins last season, including home victories against UNCG, Western Carolina and Samford and road triumphs over ETSU, VMI, and Mercer.
- The Bulldogs defeated ETSU in the opening round of the 2022 SoCon Tournament, marking the first time they defeated the Bucs twice in the same season since 1986-87 during Ed Conroy's playing days.
- Ed Conroy will coach in his first SoCon game since Mar. 6, 2010 when his Bulldogs squared off with former league member Appalachian State in the SoCon Tournament. Conroy has 29 SoCon wins from his first turn as The Citadel head coach from 2006-10.
Full broadcast schedules will be announced later, but all SoCon home games will air on ESPN+ if not selected for national or regional broadcast. Five SoCon regular-season games and three tournament games aired on ESPN networks last season, while another five regular-season contests aired on CBS Sports Network. The league broadcast schedule will also continue to feature its Ingles SoCon Game of the Week on select Nexstar affiliates throughout the Southeast.
