COLUMBIA, S.C. – Heidi Fortin, Mecca Jackson, and Solomon Ghosh broke school records on Saturday afternoon at the USC Open.

On the Women's Side

Heidi Fortin broke the 5k outdoor record with a time of 17:45.53, earning third overall. Fortin broke her record of 18:03.89 set in 2022.
Mecca Jackson broke the outdoor record in the 100m with a time of 11.78, placing ninth overall. Jackson broke her record of 11.88 in the 100m set in 2021.
Blythe Hehmeyer cleared 11-08.00 in the pole vault invite, finishing in third.
Emma Cunningham placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:14.04.
Ali Ruffin finished fifth place in the javelin with a toss of 133-0.00.
Tatiana Corso competed in the shot put, finishing in fifth with a put of 41-07.00.
Sadie Grove finished behind Ruffin in the javelin with 118-10.00.
The 4x100m relay team of Cyla Byrd, Mecca Jackson, Zeniyah Lawrence, and Leah Murray placed tenth overall with a time of 47.13.

On the Men's Side

Solomon Ghosh broke the outdoor record in the discus throw with a toss of 173-0.00. Breaking the old record set by Kelvin Brown with a throw of 171-10 set in 1990.
Prince Moody placed first in the high jump by clearing 6-06.00.
Owen Sharnas and Ty Duben finished back-to-back in the 5000m. Sharnas placed fifth with a time of 15:22.82, and Duben placed sixth with a time of 15:24.00.
Caleb McDonald, Ian McCorkle, and Briggs Rehome finished in the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots in the Javelin throw.
