Bulldogs to Face UNCG and Wofford

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will play their first conference road match against UNCG (5-9, 0-2) on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. After that, the Bulldogs will return to McAlister Field House for a match against Wofford (10-4, 2-0) on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.

About the Bulldogs
  • The Citadel volleyball team looks to bounce back after dropping two conference matches against Western Carolina and Mercer last week.
  • Ali Ruffin currently sits second all-time in career kills with 1,419 and fifth all-time in career digs with 1,266.
  • Jaelynn Elgert moved up seventh in career digs with 1,202.
  • The Citadel is out-blocking opponents at 90.0 total blocks compared to opponents' 80.0.  
  • Aaliyah Byers leads the Bulldogs with 42.0 total blocks.
 
Scouting UNCG
The Spartans have a 5-9 overall record and are 0-2 in the SoCon, having lost to ETSU and Furman at the start of the conference schedule. Allie Sweet leads the team and the SoCon with 232 kills, averaging 4.30 per set. Defensively, Chloe Nussbaum leads the team with 199 digs. The Citadel won both games against the Spartans in their previous match-ups last season.
 
Scouting Wofford
The Wofford Terriers hold a 10-4 overall and 2-0 conference records. They began their conference schedule with victories over Chattanooga and Samford. Wofford achieved a historic win over #15 Tennessee earlier in the season. Their upcoming matches include UNCG, followed by a game against the Bulldogs. Sarah MacLean leads the team with 156 kills and an impressive attack percentage of .349. Laney Klika has recorded 283 digs on the defensive end, averaging 5.55 per set. She is ranked sixth in the country for total digs and third for digs per set. Last season, The Citadel and Wofford split their matches.
