Seven Bulldogs Commission into US Armed Forces Post-Graduation

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- As part of graduation earlier this month, The Citadel Athletics proudly celebrated seven cadet-athletes as they distinguished themselves by officially commissioning into the United States Armed Forces, joining 145 fellow graduates -- approximately one-third of the class -- at a joint commissioning ceremony.
The football and track & field / cross country programs led the way with two officers apiece, including Elijah Bass (Marine Corps) and Varney Layman (Army) for the former along with Jared Campbell (Army) and Kennedy DeLancy (Army) for the latter. Additionally, Matthew Polk (Army) represented the baseball program while Sadie Gomez (Space Force) and Aidan Lenz (Army) carried the flag for the volleyball and wrestling teams, respectively.
