CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball team is set for a pair of Southern Conference matches this weekend when it hosts Samford and Chattanooga at McAlister Field House.
The Citadel (6-15, 0-6 SoCon) clashes with Samford on Friday at 6 p.m. The Cadets enter their eighth all-time meeting with Samford led by
Bailey Kernodle (169 kills),
Amanda Rudnik (241 digs) and
Lauren Hurt (48 total blocks). Hurt, with 92 solo blocks to her credit, is looking to break a tie with Lindsey Hodge and take sole possession of third place on the Dogs' career list.
Samford (12-7, 6-1 SoCon) is riding an eight-match winning streak that began on Sept. 20 with a sweep of Jackson State. The Bulldogs are led by the trio of Michaela Reesor (240 kills), Kiahna Wicks (274 digs) and Emily Mietz (45 total blocks).
The weekend concludes against Chattanooga on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Mocs, 11-10 overall and 4-2 in league play entering the weekend, are unbeaten in 21 previous meetings with The Citadel. They have also earned victories in their last four matches, beginning with a 3-0 win over the Cadets on Oct. 3.
Chattanooga's lineup is led by the play of Kristy Wieser (190 kills / 225 digs) and Lauren Gainer (87 total blocks).
