CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tuesday evening's volleyball match between The Citadel and Savannah State volleyball marks the 22nd meeting between the two programs and also the Bulldogs' annual "Dig Pink" match.
The Citadel, which participates in the breast cancer research program sponsored by Sideout, has donated over $3,400 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation over the last six years. Bulldog fans will have an opportunity to add to the total this season with the purchase of pink Citadel volleyball t-shirts for $10.
The Bulldogs (5-13, 0-4 Southern Conference) are looking snap a five-match losing streak that includes setbacks to Chattanooga and Samford last weekend. Among the statistical leaders for The Citadel are
Bailey Kernodle (148 kills),
Rachel Keefer (550 assists),
Amanda Rudnik (220 digs) and
Lauren Hurt (36 total blocks).
Savannah State (4-15) halted a seven-match losing streak on Sunday with a four-set victory at Fort Valley State. The Tigers are paced by the efforts of Justice Dilworth (100 kills), Caitlynn Masoe (227 assists), Alexis Washington (121 digs) and Gabrielle Nathaniel (19 total blocks).
