CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball team completes its 2014 regular season road schedule this weekend when it heads to Southern Conference rival Furman on Friday for a 7 p.m. match at Alley Gym.
The Citadel (8-22, 0-13 SoCon) is in search of back-to-back victories for the first time this season and is seeking its first win over the Paladins in program history.
The Dogs, coming off a recent victory over in-state, non-conference foe Claflin, are led on offense by
Bailey Kernodle (225 kills) and
Ise d'Angelo (170).
Defensively, The Citadel is anchored by
Amanda Rudnik (275 digs),
Lauren Hurt (19 solo blocks / 62 total blocks) and
Dominique Williams (49 assisted blocks).
Furman is riding a four-match winning streak that began against Mercer on Oct. 24. The Paladins have completed sweeps against their last three opponents, including the Bulldogs, as it battles Samford for the regular season league crown.
The Paladins (17-6, 10-2 SoCon) have three players with at least 250 kills including Ashton Gregory (307), Andrea Fisher (261) and Annie Bierman (250).
Furman's stout defensive presence includes Meg DeMaar (406 digs) and Gregory, who leads the team in solo blocks (40), assisted blocks (80) and total blocks (120).
