CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team competes in its third tournament in as many weekends on Thursday when they head to the ISTAP Collegiate Cup 2 hosted by Alabama State.

The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend which saw them defeat N.C. A&T at The Citadel Invitational, improving to 2-4 in the early going. Thursday's match pits the Cadets against first-time opponent Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m. On Friday, The Citadel squares off against Towson at 10 a.m. and wraps up the tournament against host Alabama State at 4 p.m.

The Dogs are led on offense by the trio of
Moriah Smith (58 kills),
Mallory Moore (37) and
Ise d'Angelo (34). Junior setter
Rachel Keefer, with 206 assists to her credit, is quarterbacking a Citadel offense that is averaging 11.45 kills/set.

On defense, the Bulldogs are anchored by the play of
Amanda Rudnik (96 digs),
Samantha Espy (10 total blocks) and
Lauren Hurt (six solo blocks).

Southeast Missouri (1-6) is looking to snap a six-match losing streak after a four-set season opening victory over Memphis. The Redhawks offense is led by the duo of Andrea Baylin (79 kills) and Krissa Gearring (65), while Jade Mortimer (103 digs) and Baylin (92) highlight the defensive efforts.

On the other hand, Towson looks to improve on its perfect 6-0 record that includes wins over St. Peter's, Coppin State and La Salle last weekend. The play of front row standouts Saitaua Iosia (88 kills) and Haley Pa'akaula (60) has been key for the Tigers offensive attack so far.

Alabama State (2-5), the defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions, suffered consecutive losses to Arizona, CSU-Northridge and Loyola (Chicago) last weekend in Tucson.Â
