SoCon Tournament Bracket

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will compete in its first game of the 2015 postseason on Saturday in Cullowhee, North Carolina, against host Western Carolina. First serve is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. between the nine and 10 seeds.
 
"We have had a great week of practice and want to finish strong," head coach Craig Mosqueda said. "Our last meeting with Western Carolina was a barn burner and we hope to have another strong showing."
 
The two teams come into the contest having faced off twice before in the 2015 campaign with the Catamounts taking both matches. Western Carolina took the first game on Oct. 16 3-1 despite 24 digs from Samantha Espy and Megan Sowell's 11 kills.
 
The second matchup of the season in Charleston, South Carolina, came down to the wire with the Catamounts pulling out the 3-2 victory over The Citadel. Sowell shined again for the Bulldogs recording a match-high 25 kills. Carla Bruce tallied 15 kills and Espy continued to lead the team in digs with 25. The Citadel recorded 10 more kills than the Catamounts but also had three more errors in the close loss.
 
WCU is currently 11-21 overall, 5-11 in the SoCon and comes into Saturday's game on a two-game losing streak. Sophomore Katie O'Connor is third in the SoCon in hitting percentage with a .332 average. She is also fifth in the standings with a .86 block average per set.
