Baucom Releases The Citadel’s 2015-16 Hoops Slate

2015-16 Citadel Basketball Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C.
– First-year Citadel basketball head coach Duggar Baucom announced the team's 2015-16 schedule on Wednesday, including 13 home games and non-conference clashes with Butler, Air Force and Charlotte.

The Bulldogs' season begins in Indianapolis when they go head-to-head with Butler for the first time in program history. Butler, who reached the national championship game in 2010 and 2011, is coming off a 2014-15 campaign ended with a 67-64 overtime loss to Notre Dame in the Third Round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

The Citadel makes its first appearance of the season at McAlister Field House against Stetson on Nov. 17. The Dogs follow with a first-ever meeting against Mid-Atlantic Christian two days later.

November closes with a three-game-in-four-day swing for The Citadel when it faces Georgia Southern, Bob Jones and USC Upstate in Spartanburg at the USC Upstate Classic.

The Bulldogs remain on the road in early December as they head to the Air Force Academy on Dec. 2 for the fifth all-time meeting with the Falcons.

Three days later The Citadel welcomes College of Charleston to McAlister Field House for a matinee showdown that is set for 1 p.m. The 93rd all-time meeting with their intracity rivals will be quickly followed by a meeting with Voorhees on Dec. 8.

After an eight-day break for fall exams, the Bulldogs trek to Bethune-Cookman and Campbell before Christmas.

The final tune-up before Southern Conference play begins is on Dec. 29 when Baucom faces off against his alma mater, Charlotte. The meeting with the 49ers marks the first in The Citadel's 104-year basketball history.

SoCon play begins in Charleston against Chattanooga on Jan. 2 before the Bulldogs hit the road against Samford three days later. The Citadel will then host conference foes Mercer, Wofford and Furman in mid-January.

The Bulldogs are set to host three games in February including home battles with Samford on Feb. 8 and East Tennessee State on Feb. 18. The home slate concludes with a showdown against Western Carolina on Feb. 20.

Following a pair of road games at UNCG and VMI to close out the regular season the Southern Conference Tournament is set for March 4-7 in Asheville, North Carolina.
