CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball will play its final non-conference game of the regular season at South Carolina State at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs then resume SoCon play on Sunday, hosting Furman at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs' match against Furman was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved to Sunday due to schedule conflicts. The contest is now exactly one week after The Citadel and Furman met up previously when the Bulldogs fell in four sets.

Despite a rough first set, the Bulldogs (6-15, 0-6 SoCon) gave Furman a tough match on their home court, almost forcing a fifth set after a 26-24 fourth set loss.

Outside hitter Moriah Smith continues to pace the Southern Conference in kills with 312 on the season. The total is closing in on a top-10 spot in Bulldogs' single season history and is just 81 kills short of her 2015 total.

Smith also ranks ninth in the SoCon with 3.20 digs per set, helping The Citadel lead the SoCon in total digs (1,260) and rank third in digs per set (15.75). Libero Samantha Espy is third in the SoCon in total digs with 330 and fifth in digs per set with 4.12.

Espy is also just one dig away from tying Tatum Jestilla (2007-10) for second in program history with 1,241 career digs. Espy also needs 211 digs to move into first place in career digs.

The Bulldogs are 17-5 all-time against South Carolina State and own a four-match winning streak. South Carolina State enters the contest with a 0-18 record. Furman is 8-10 overall and 4-2 in the SoCon.
