DELAND, Fla.
– The Citadel men's basketball team made eight free throws in the last 32 seconds of the game to clinch a 116-112 win at Stetson on Friday evening.

Both teams got off to quick starts, combining to score 32 points a little over five minutes into the game. The Bulldogs (3-1) got the majority of their points in that span from Brian White as the senior hit three three-pointers.

The Citadel stayed hot from three-point range as the half continued and with six minutes remaining had already drained nine treys, giving them a 10-point cushion heading into the halftime break. White finished the first half with 16 points on six-of-seven shooting from the floor and Kaelon Harris had 15 for the Bulldogs.

The 'Dogs continued their hot shooting in the second half, going on an 11-0 run from 12:40-10:48 to push their lead to 16. The run was sparked by a three-pointer by Ezekiel Balogun and capped by a White layup.

With under two minutes remaining in the game, Stetson (2-1) went on a run and hit a three-pointer to make it a one-point game. But a deep three by Matt Frierson with 50 seconds left gave The Citadel a four-point advantage and then Frankie Johnson sank two free throws with 32 seconds left to make it a six-point Bulldogs' lead.

The Hatters closed the gap back down to two points with 16 seconds remaining after making a layup and two free throws. Stetson then fouled freshman Preston Parks who calmly sank two free throws to push it back to a four point lead.

Following a 30 second timeout Stetson drove down and hit a three-pointer, making it a one-point game with nine seconds remaining. On the next possession, the Hatters were forced to foul again, sending Harris to the line. The freshman made both free throws and then following one made free throw by Stetson on its next possession, Harris went to the line and made two more to clinch the 116-112 win for the Bulldogs.

Harris led all scorers with a career-high 26 points in the game including four free throws in the last six seconds of the game. Quayson Williams and White each poured in 23 points and Frierson chipped in 12. The 'Dogs made a season-high 18 three-pointers in the game with White and Williams each nailing five. The Citadel forced 13 Stetson turnovers in the contest and dished out 24 assists including a game-high eight by Johnson.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to No. 20 Iowa State. Tip is set for 2 p.m. ET inside Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
