BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Citadel wrestling team dropped Friday's dual to Gardner-Webb 28-12 inside Paul Porter Arena.

Gardner-Webb jumped out to an early lead after taking the first two matches by major decision and fall.
Ty Buckiso (17-11) cut into the Runnin' Bulldogs lead at 141 after securing a win by a 5-3 decision making the score 10-3 heading into the 149-pound matchup. Buckiso is now 4-0 in SoCon duals.

Matt Frisch (18-8, 3-2 SoCon) took to the mat next for The Citadel but was edged by Chris Vassar in a 4-1 decision, giving Gardner-Webb a 13-3 lead.

At 157 pounds,
Aaron Walker (22-5) earned the tight 1-0 decision over Ryan Mosley to pull the Bulldogs back within seven points. Walker tallied an escape for the lone point in the bout and kept his winning streak alive, pushing his total to 12 straight matches.

Gardner-Webb took the next three bouts to take a 25-6 lead into the 197-pound match which pitted
Marshall Haas (21-9, 5-0) against Gray Jones. Haas jumped out a quick 2-0 lead in the first period and then pinned Jones just 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 25-12 with the 285 bout remaining.

Bexley dropped a close decision in the last match of the day losing by 5-2 decision, making the final team score 28-12. With the setback, the Bulldogs are now 4-8 and 1-4 in Southern Conference duals.
