CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head coach Ciaran Traquair announced the 2016 soccer schedule that features 13 home contests Thursday.
 
"I am very excited to begin this new chapter in our program and the schedule reflects our ambitions as a program," Coach Traquair said. "We have some tough games to prepare for and will welcome teams from several different areas of the country. We are fortunate to have an overload of home games and intend to use that to our advantage as the season develops."
 
The Bulldogs will open the preseason beginning in August with two home exhibition games against in-state foes Winthrop on Aug. 14 and USC Beaufort on Aug. 17.
 
The regular season begins Aug. 21 when UNC Asheville comes to town for a 1 p.m. matchup. The Bulldogs host six nonconference games, including crosstown rival College of Charleston Sept. 11 at 2 p.m.
 
The Citadel also hosts five Southern Conference games this year beginning with ETSU Sept. 23. Other home SoCon matchups include Western Carolina, UNCG, VMI and Mercer.
 
14 of the 18 foes the Bulldogs face this year will be out-of-state opponents including first-time matchups with Alabama A&M, Eastern Kentucky, LIU Brooklyn, Vermont and Hampton.
