CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its 2025 postseason women's soccer awards on Wednesday, with The Citadel's Gabrielle Macer earning a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team following an impressive debut season.

Macer, a 5-foot-6 midfielder from Atlanta, Ga., started 16 of 17 matches for the Bulldogs in her freshman campaign, logging more than 1,300 minutes of action. She finished the season with 17 total shots and five shots on goal, including a season-high three shots and two on frame in The Citadel's Southern Conference Tournament match at Wofford on Oct. 28.

Head coach Ciaran Traquair praised Macer's impact throughout the season.

"Gabi has been ever present in our team this season and has made a fantastic impact as a freshman. We talk often as a staff about bringing players here who can jump right in and gain the development and growth opportunities of live minutes in year one. Gabi has grabbed that opportunity and some. Her day to day is always the same, commitment to competing in training and games, challenging herself to raise standards, and making sure she represents this program and school in her Colette spirit. We will challenge her to go up another great in 2026," said Traquair.

Macer becomes the latest Bulldog to earn SoCon All-Freshman Team honors under Traquair, joining a standout group that includes Adrienne Trerotola (2023), Elisa Fuentes (2022), Celeste Nadar (2022), Suzuka Yosue (2019), and Kessy Bradshaw (2018). With Macer's selection, The Citadel has now produced six All-Freshman honorees during Traquair's tenure, continuing the program's steady rise in developing young talent within the Southern Conference.
