CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team returns home for two Southern Conference matches against Wofford and UNCG on Friday and Saturday.
The Bulldogs (6-11, 0-2 SoCon) enter the second week of conference play after falling in their first two SoCon matches against Mercer and Western Carolina.
Outside hitter
Moriah Smith continues to lead the SoCon with 265 kills and 4.08 kills per set. She also ranks fourth in Division I in total attacks and eighth in total kills.
As a team, the Bulldogs lead the SoCon in total digs with 1,046 and total attacks with 2,373.
Middle hitter
Sarah Dobrich moved into the top 10 in blocks per set in the SoCon with 0.79. The freshman has steadily improved her play of late, recording 27 total blocks in the last six matches and 1.35 blocks per set over that same stretch. Dobrich also leads the conference with a .591 hitting percentage in SoCon matches only.
Libero
Samantha Espy moved into third place on the career digs list with 1,185, passing up Ashley Winter (2005-08) last week. Espy is just 56 digs away from moving into second place and 265 from tying The Citadel record holder Rachel Sanders (2005-08).
Wofford visits Charleston with an even records of 8-8 overall and 1-1 in SoCon play. They are also 2-2 on the road this season. UNCG enters the week at 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon. They will be at Mercer on Friday before visiting the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs' match against Wofford is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Friday. They return to the court on Saturday, hosting UNCG at 5 p.m. Live video and stats will be available for both matches.
