Bulldogs Set to Visit No. 18 South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C.
– The Citadel baseball team will play outside of Charleston for the first time in 2017 as they visit No. 18 South Carolina on Tuesday in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Bulldogs (3-7) look to get back into the win column after dropping three games against the College of Charleston over the weekend.

First pitch against the Gamecocks (7-5) is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Founders Park.

The game will be available on ESPN Radio 94.7-FM and 910-AM in the Charleston market, with Voice of the Bulldogs Mike Legg on the call.

  • William Kinney drove in his sixth RBI of the season on Sunday with his first double. He is tied for the team lead in RBI with Joe Sabatini and Ben Peden.
  • The Bulldogs walked a season-high 13 times on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in a 9-8 victory over Presbyterian College. It is the most walks in a single game for The Citadel since 2007.
  • Barrett Charpia walked four times in the game, the most for a single player since 2007 as well.
  • Relief pitcher Aaron Lesiak earned the win in relief against his former team on Feb. 28 vs Presbyterian.
  • Freshman J.D. Davis leads the team with nine walks after drawing three free passes on Feb. 28 vs Presbyterian College.
  • Fellow freshman Bryce Leasure also drew three walks, scoring three runs in the victory.
  • With two hits on Sunday, outfielder Taylor Cothran increased his batting average to a team-best .320 with eight hits in 25 at-bats.
  • William Kinney extended his streak of consecutive starts to 82 games, dating back to 2015. He has started the last 69 straight games at shortstop for The Citadel.
