Box Score BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Citadel volleyball team went 1-2 in the Campbell-hosted, Hampton Inn-Holly Springs Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C., over the weekend.
 
The Bulldogs started the invitational with a 3-1 victory over N.C. Central, before falling to Campbell 3-1 on Friday.
                                                           
On Saturday, the Bulldogs put up a fight against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles but ultimately fell 3-2 in the final set.
 
Freshman Sharlissa De Jesus added another double-double to her resume as a Bulldog with 18 kills and 14 digs against the Golden Eagles. Senior Moriah Smith also had an impressive day with 14 digs, 10 kills and two blocks.  
 
"This was a tough five set pass tonight," said head coach Craig Mosqueda. "IT was great to see Jen Barbot step up and have a great day offensively. De Jesus had another great day with her third double-double."
 
The Bulldogs will continue their 2017 tour next Friday, Sept. 1, when they travel to Washington, DC, to compete in the Pentagon Tournament.
