Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team defeated the Savannah State Tigers 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in McAlister Field House at 6:00 p.m.
 
The Bulldogs (5-11) had a hot start in the first set with 12 kills to win 25-14. The Tigers tried to answer in the second and third sets but were outmatched. The Bulldogs took the final two sets 25-18, 25-21 to snag the 3-0 victory. Senior Moriah Smith and sophomore Autumn Bennett led the squad with 12 kills for 43 total kills by the Bulldogs.
 
Coming up, the Bulldogs will kick off conference play on the road against the Samford Bulldogs in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Samford is 5-9 this season with recent wins over Indiana and UNLV. Friday's match will be broadcast on the SoCon Digital Network and live stats will be available on CitadelSports.com.
 
The Citadel will then travel on Saturday to Macon, Georgia, to face conference opponent Mercer at 3:00 p.m. in Hawkins Arena. The Bears have a 4-7 record after falling to Buffalo, College of Charleston and Appalachian State over the weekend.
