Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel volleyball team dropped matches to Winthrop and Gardner-Webb during day one of the ECU Classic in Greenville, North Carolina, on Friday.
 
The Bulldogs had a hot start at 9 a.m. against the Winthrop Eagles, winning the first set 25-22. The Eagles then swept the next three sets 25-20, 25-23 and 25-23 to claim the match 3-1. Senior Moriah Smith was the high scorer for the Bulldogs, recording 22.0 points and freshman Sharlissa De Jesus had the most kills for the Bulldogs with 19.
 
In match two, the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs secured the first two sets 25-23, 25-16. The Citadel battled back to win the third set 25-22 before dropping the final set 25-16 to fall 3-1. De Jesus, the Puerto-Rico native, again led the Bulldogs with 15 kills against Gardner-Webb.
 
The Bulldogs are scheduled to take on host ECU on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. before competing against Hampton at 4:00 p.m. A live stream of the match against ECU and live stats for the Hampton match will be available on CitadelSports.com.
