Citadel Volleyball Hosts ETSU on Parents' Weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will host East Tennessee State on Parents' Weekend this Saturday at 6 p.m.

Opponent Background
 
ETSU (16-5, 5-1) comes off a loss to High Point in five sets on Tuesday.  The Buccaneers have suffered only one loss in the Southern Conference at the hands of Samford. ETSU has recorded notable wins against Clemson, Duke, Tennessee, and No. 22 ranked Washington State this year. Junior, Leah Clayton leads the team and conference in kills on the season with 310. Defensively for the Bucs, Braedyn Tutton and Marija Popovic will lead the charge. Tutton leads the conference in blocks with 80 and Popovic sits at the top of the conference with 421 digs through 21 games.

Last Time Out for The Citadel: The Citadel dropped their midweek match to the Mercer Bears in straight sets on Wednesday. In the loss, Sharlissa De Jesus put on another impressive performance notching 12 kills, 10 digs, a service ace and a solo block. Mellanie King was next in line with eight kills and 11 digs. Megan Fuhr recorded over twenty five assists for the fourth consecutive game. Emma Strong checked into the match as the libero in the third set and went on to tally 10 digs in the game.  As a team, the Bulldogs recorded six blocks, two coming from De Jesus and Dobrich individually. The Citadel currently sits in sixth place in the Southern Conference with a record of 3-4, ahead of Furman, Mercer and Wofford.
