CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will host Samford and Chattanooga this weekend for conference play.
Opponent Backgrounds
Samford (13-13, 8-4) comes off a loss to top-ranked East Tennessee State in five sets on Saturday. The Bulldogs currently sit in second place in the Southern Conference and took the first match up against the Bulldogs this season. Senior,
Krista Boesing leads the team in kills on the season with 390 and currently sits in third place in the SoCon. Defensively for Samford,
Grace Tiesman will lead the charge. Tiesman leads the team in digs with 397 and holds fifth place in the conference, averaging 4.14 per set.
Chattanooga (8-17, 4-8) is currently on a five-game losing streak after most recently dropping a pair of SoCon matches to UNCG and ETSU.
Dani Szczepanski currently sits in second place in hitting percentage in the conference recording a .337 on the season so far.
Megan Kaufman will lead the Mocs on defensive, as she tops the team in digs with 286. The Citadel took the first match up against the Mocs in sweep style.

Last Time Out for The Citadel: The Citadel split a pair of home matches to the Furman Paladins and Wofford Terriers over the weekend and picked up their tenth victory in a midweek match up against Savannah State. In the win against Savannah State,
Sharlissa De Jesus led the Bulldogs offensively with 13 kills on the day while tallying a hitting percentage of .455. As a team the Bulldogs served up 13 aces and hit .321 on the night.
Dave Zelenock on the Weekend Match Ups: "Every week we know what we are going to face in our opponents. We are trying to remain focused on ourselves and really dig into consistency in these last few matches to prepare us for the SoCon Tournament. It is a mentality that the team has bought into but we need to make sure we are executing it to pull out some more wins."
Dog Food Donation
Take part in the Bulldog rivalry by donating any kind of dog food at tonight's match against Samford! Donations will be accepted at the marketing table inside of McAlister Field house, the donation drive will conclude Saturday at the home football game against Samford.
