CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, to compete in the 2018 Southern Conference Volleyball Championship hosted by UNC Greensboro beginning Friday, Nov. 16.
 
The Bulldogs are the No. 9 seed in the tournament and will face eighth-seeded Western Carolina in a play-in-game, with first serve set for 9:30 a.m. The winner will continue to face top-ranked ETSU at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon in a quarterfinal match.
 
The Bulldogs finished the regular season after recording four conference wins, the most in program history. The Citadel opened conference play with back-to-back wins against UNCG and Western Carolina. The team would go on to defeat Chattanooga and Furman later in the season.
 
Previous Encounters with Western Carolina

• The Citadel won their first match against WCU in a five-set battle.
• Sharlissa De Jesus recorded 19 kills in the win to go with three service aces and three blocks while Sarah Dobrich hit for 14 kills and assisted on six blocks.
• The team recorded a season-high 11 blocks and led the Catamounts in kills, blocks, digs and assists. 
• The Cats got revenge when they defeated the Bulldogs in the second match of the year, sweeping them 3-0 without the offensive power of De Jesus on the floor.
• Sumerlyn Carruthers led the Bulldogs in the loss with seven kills while Alicia Roberts tallied five blocks.

 
The SoCon Digital network will broadcast all tournament matches and live stats will be available at CitadelSports.com. Admission for the matches will be $10 for a single day adult pass and $5 for ages 3-12. Students with valid SoCon ID will receive free admission.
