CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will hit the road to wrap up conference play this week against Mercer and top-ranked East Tennessee State.The Bulldogs will travel to Mercer on Wednesday, Nov. 7 before heading to Johnson City to take on the Bucs on Friday, Nov. 9. Both matches are slated to begin at 6 p.m.
Opponent Backgrounds
Mercer (14-11, 7-7 SoCon) most recently picked up a pair conference wins against Samford and Chattanooga.
- The Bears went to five sets against Samford before taking the 3-2 victory behind the offense of duo, Paige Alsten and Annie Karle, who tallied 17 kills apiece in the five-set match.
- Overall, Mercer is led by Alsten who has recorded 311 kills on the year, good enough for first in the conference for hitting percentage with at .343.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Emilee Wissmach leads the team in digs, averaging 3.52 with a total of 327 on the year.
East Tennessee State (24-5, 13-1 SoCon) is coming off an eight-game win streak after sweeping Wofford on Saturday, Nov. 3.
- The Bucs have only lost one conference game at the hands of Samford back in late September.
- ETSU leads the SoCon in hitting percentage, assists, kills and blocks so far this season with Leah Clayton topping the chart individually with 417 kills.
Last Time Out for The Citadel: The Citadel (10-16, 4-10 SoCon) most recently dropped a five-set match to Chattanooga.
- Sharlissa De Jesus recorded a new career-high of 28 kills to go along with 18 digs and a pair of aces. De Jesus notched a hitting percentage of .426 after taking 54 swings. She currently sits in second in the conference with both kills and service aces.
