Saturday Weather
The forecast is calling for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-70s.

vs. Towson
The Bulldogs and Tigers will be meeting for the first time on the gridiron. The game is the first of a home-and-home between the two schools. They will meet in Charleston in the 2019 season opener.

The Citadel-Towson Ties
Although the teams have not met previously, there are ties between the two schools. Bulldog assistant Orlando Mitjans, Jr. spent five seasons at Towson, including serving as the defensive coordinator in 2004. TU inside linebackers coach Collin Bauer spent one season at The Citadel.

Johnson Earns SoCon Honor
After returning the kickoff for a touchdown against Mercer, Rod Johnson was named the Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. He is the first Bulldog to win the honor since Cody Black on Oct. 17, 2016.

Johnson House Call
Rod Johnson returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in the final minute against Mercer. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown since Scooter Johnson took a kick back 91 yards against VMI on Nov. 16, 2002.

94-Yard Return
Rod Johnson's 94-yard kickoff return is tied for the third longest return in program history. It is only bested by a 100-yard return from Bud Pough against Appalachian State in 2002, Danny Miller's 95-yard return against Wofford in 1979 and Carlos Frank's 94-yard return against Georgia Southern in 1996.

32 Rushing Yards
The Citadel defense held Mercer to just 32 yards rushing on 29 attempts. That is the fewest yards allowed since surrendering 26 yards on 22 carries against ETSU last season.

Ball Control
The Bulldogs used a ball control mentality in the second half to mount the comeback against Mercer. The Citadel put together a 19-play, 9:52 drive to get a field goal in the third quarter. Overall, the Bulldogs held the ball for 18:03 in the second half in outscoring Mercer 24-14.

Quick Strike
As much as the Bulldogs controlled the ball against Mercer, they were also able to strike quickly. They needed on 1:15 to go 96 yards for a touchdown late in the first half, and only 3:13 on a 92-yard drive in the fourth quarter.

Throwing the Deep Ball
Quarterback Jordan Black completed the longest pass of his career when he connected with Raleigh Webb on a 77-yard touchdown with 15 seconds left in the first half at Mercer. The passing play tied for the 10th longest in program history.

Drakeford Goes for 139

Senior Grant Drakeford had his first 100-yard rushing performance against Mercer when he ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. He also added two catches for 59 yards.

Up Next
The Bulldogs will have their bye week before returning to action Oct. 13 as they host ETSU. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
