Volleyball Travels to the Upstate to Face Furman and Wofford

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will travel to the upstate to continue conference play this weekend against Wofford and Furman.

The two-day event will commence on Friday at 7 p.m. against Wofford and conclude Saturday at 7 p.m. against Furman.

Friday, Sep. 28 – Wofford, 7 p.m.
Saturday Sep. 29 – Furman, 7 p.m.
 
Opponent Backgrounds
Wofford (7-8, 0-2 SoCon) most recently dropped their opening conference matches to Chattanooga and Samford. The Terriers are led by Catie Cronister who has tallied 195 kills while playing in all 57 sets on the season so far. On the defensive side of the ball, Coleen Reilly leads the team in blocks, averaging 1.04 per set while Taylor Gill leads the SoCon in digs with 322. 
 
Furman (4-9, 0-2 SoCon) comes off of 0-3, 1-3 losses to Samford and Chattanooga, respectively this past weekend and now are 4-9 on the year. The Paladins are led by the offensive efforts of Jordan McNeill who has recorded 110 kills on the year, while Madison Gresham and Carris Campbell have put down 1-4 and 102, respectively. Meg DeMaar leads the Paladins with 230 digs on the season while Neci Harris and Campbell are tied for a team high 33 blocks.
 
Last Time Out for The Citadel: The Citadel (7-6, 2-0 SoCon) is off to a historic start after tallying two wins on opening weekend of conference for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs were led by recently named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week, Sarah Dobrich who tallied 11 blocks in the two matches. Sharlissa De Jesus continues to lead the team and conference in kills, notching 203 while maintaining an average of 4.23 kills per set. De Jesus also sits in second place for service aces in the SoCon with 24. Sophomore setter, Megan Fuhr has assisted on 417 kills while Caricia Rodriguez leads the team in digs with 136.
