CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team departs for Greenville, S.C. to take on Furman Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.
#BATTLEREADY (ABOUT THE CITADEL)
The Bulldogs are 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the conference heading into this weekend after falling on the road to UNCG, 0-3 earlier in the week.
Setter
Megan Fuhr ranks among the top 10 in the conference for assists per match, averaging 8.10 per set. The Citadel owns the top spot in the SoCon for service aces, averaging 1.81 per set. They currently total 98 for the year.
Senior
Sarah Dobrich is now the all-time leader in program history for career blocks. The middle blocker entered the season with 324 total blocks and has amassed 32 over 13 matches this year. She now sits with 356, passing previous leader Lauren Hurt (343), with 15 regular season matches left to play.
THE CITADEL VS THE PALADINS (THE HISTORY)
The Citadel has a 41-match history with Furman, stretching back to 1999. The Bulldogs are 2-39 all-time against the Paladins, with their most recent victory occurring last season, 3-2 in McAlister Field House.
Sharlissa De Jesus recorded a double-double during the match with 16 kills and 13 digs.
SCOUTING THE PALADINS
The Paladins of Furman enter the weekend 0-13 overall and 0-2 in the SoCon. They dropped their first two conference matches last weekend at home to Western Carolina and ETSU. They take on Wofford Friday, Oct. 4 in Greenville, S.C. prior to their match with the Bulldogs.
Outside hitter Nicole Mack spearheads Furman's offense, averaging 3.15 kills per set, ranking her eighth in the conference. Furman currently ranks third in the SoCon with a 1.95 blocking average.
COMING UP
The Bulldogs will have almost a week of practice before heading to Western Carolina Friday, Oct. 11 for a match at 6 p.m.
