CHARLESTON, S.C. – After a sweep of Chattanooga last weekend, The Citadel will head back out on the road to battle Southern Conference foe ETSU in Johnson City on Sunday (3 p.m.) and Monday (5 p.m.) as conference play continues.
Both matches will be carried live on ESPN+ as the Bulldogs and Bucs do battle.
In The Citadel's most recent matches, the Bulldogs earned a pair of 3-0 victories over Chattanooga last week, marking the first time in program history that The Citadel has earned a regular season sweep against a SoCon opponent.
Sharlissa de Jesus (28 kills across the two matches) and
Mellanie King (27 kills) led the way offensively against the Mocs, and
Kenzie Kellerman was a force defensively with 35 digs.
Amie Greene picked up SoCon Setter of the Week honors with 75 assists, 14 digs and four kills in the two tilts.
King enters this weekend just 25 kills short of 1,000 for her career; the senior would become the sixth member of the 1,000-kill club for the Bulldogs should she reach that mark against the Bucs.
ETSU enters Sunday's match with a 4-6 record both overall and in SoCon action. After sweeping their opening weekends against Furman and UNCG, the Bucs have dropped six straight, most recently a pair of 3-1 decision against Samford last weekend.
Following this weekend's matches, The Citadel will return to the court for its final two home matches of the 2020-21 campaign as the Bulldogs welcome UNCG to McAlister Field House next Sunday (3 p.m.) and Monday (5 p.m.). Monday's match will double as Senior Day for the Bulldogs.
