Bulldogs Shutout Spartans

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel got goals from Megan McLaughlin and Suzuka Yosue to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 victory over USC Upstate Thursday night in Spartanburg.

How it Happened
  • 24' - The Bulldogs got on the board in the first half as Megan McLaughlin was able to head the ball into the back of the net off a perfect pass from Sophie Saldivar.
  • 67' - The Bulldogs doubled the advantage in the second half when Suzuka Yosue was awarded a penalty kick and beat the goalie to lower right corner.

  • The Citadel opened the season with back-to-back victories. It is the first time the Bulldogs opened the season with two-straight wins since opening the 2018 season with three-straight victories.
  • The Bulldogs controlled the ball in the first half as they outshot the Spartans 13-1 in the opening half. The Citadel had six shots on goal, while Upstate had zero.
  • The momentum carried over into the second half as the Bulldogs added 15 shots to finish with 28 in the game.
