One-Goal Advantage Vanishes in Closing Moments with Mercer

CHARLESTON, S.C. –  The Citadel avenged a 1-0 halftime deficit with two consecutive scores in the second half against Mercer Friday, only for the Bears to rally in the closing moments with two straight to swipe a 3-2 SoCon win.

How it Happened
  • 38' – Nicole Icen fired a shot point-blank, assisted by Ciara Whitely.
  • 58' – Suzuka Yosue knotted up the contest off a penalty kick goal.
  • 59' – Elisa Fuentes fed Jimena Risoto down the left wing, kicking the ball past Lindsay Bell where Lexy Kendor came sprinting down the right side to tuck the ball into the net.
  • 86' – Jamie Hlebec sent a ball from just over midfield to the box, which hit off the head off a Bulldog defender and found the back of the net.
  • 88' – A cross from the right side offered Mercer the ball inside the box. Sydney Farr's shot got blocked, which led to the feet of Nicole Icen who closed the deal on the game-winning score.

  • 21' – Ciara Whitely sent a well-struck ball that was on course to the goal, but was kicked away by Grace Duncan.
  • 24' – Kendall Cook's penalty kick was saved in front by Brie Sikes

  • Brie Sikes earned six saves on the day and moves to 4-4 on the year.
