CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will welcome Southern Conference opponents the Mercer Bears (Oct. 8) at 7 p.m. and the Samford Bulldogs (Oct. 9) at 4 p.m. in McAlister Field house. The matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

Ruffin Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Month
 
Ali Ruffin received the honors of the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Month. In September, Ruffin complied 177 kills, 155 digs, and 31 total blocks. She had 4.02 kills per set and 3.52 digs per set.
 
Ruffin posted career highs against Norfolk State with 24 kills and 32 digs.
 
She posted a 16-kill and 17-dig match against Clemson, leading to the first-ever win over a Power 5 team.
 
Scouting Mercer                              
The Mercer Bears are 5-11 and 1-3 in Southern Conference match play for the 2022 season. The Bears come into the match-up against the Bulldogs off a recent defeat against ETSU, 3-1. Mercer is being led by outside hitter Annie Karle leads the Bears with 218 kills, and libero Lexi Uhrhan with 206 digs. In the most recent matchup, Mercer defeated The Citadel, 3-0, in the 2021 season.
 
Scouting Samford
The Samford Bulldogs are 7-9 and 2-2 in Southern Conference match play for the 2022 season. Samford is coming off a victory against Chattanooga, 3-0, on Oct. 1. Outside hitter Kenya McQuirter is leading the team with 216 kills, and Kate Morgan is leading with 244 digs. The Citadel defeated Samford in the second round of the 2021 Southern Conference Tournament, 3-1.
