Game Notes

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team will head down the road to open their season in the College of Charleston Classic Aug. 26-27.
 
The Bulldogs begin tournament play against College of Charleston on Friday at 7 p.m. They will continue the action on Saturday against Fresno State at 10 a.m., followed by Rutgers at 2 p.m.
 
Newcomers
The Bulldogs welcome four newcomers to the court this season: setter Lydia Larson, middle blocker Sam Barnes, Libero Ainsley Dowling and outside hitter Jamie Holton. 
 
Opening Against College of Charleston
Friday's match will mark just the second time in program history that The Citadel opens their season against the Cougars. This will mark the 33^rd meeting on the court between the two, with the Bulldogs coming off of their first win in the series during the 2021 season. 
 
Scouting Fresno and Rutgers
The Bulldogs will begin two new series on Saturday by taking on Fresno and Rutgers for the first time in program history. Fresno ended the 2021 season with an overall 12-14 record, and an 8-10 mark in the Mountain West Conference. Rutgers is coming off an 8-21 season, and were 0-20 in the Big 10. 
 
Up Next
The Bulldogs will travel to Clemson, S.C. to participate in the Clemson Invitational on Sept. 9-10. The Citadel will face Jacksonville State (10:30 a.m.) and Gardner-Webb (4:30 p.m.) on Friday, then close out the tournament with Clemson (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
