Thriller at Furman
The Bulldogs were down 0-2 for the first team in the season against Furman but battled back to beat the Paladins 3-2.
Mackenzie Martin posted a career-high in kills with 20.
Sweep at ETSU
The Citadel swept ETSU for the first time in program history, and only the second time the Bulldogs have defeated the Bucs in the regular season or post-season play.
One of Three
The Citadel volleyball team remains one of three undefeated programs left in the country. The Citadel (20-0), #1 Wisconsin (17-0), and #2 Nebraska (17-0).
DeLancey Named Defensive Player of the Week
Middle blocker
Gina DeLancey was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording 1.25 blocks per set in two matches against Furman and ETSU. She recorded 7.0 total blocks against Furman with two block solos and five block assists. Against ETSU, she recorded three block assists.
DeLancey ranks third in the conference with 68 total blocks, 11 block solos, and 57 block assists.
Scouting Samford
Samford is 9-11 overall and 4-4 in conference play for the 2023 season. Samford split their weekend matches against Mercer (2-3) and a win against Chattanooga (3-0). Gracie Lynn Butler leads the Bulldogs in kills with 324; she sits second behind Ruffin in kills in the SoCon. Kate Morgan anchors the defense for Samford with 277 digs. The Citadel swept Samford 3-0 in their last match-up in Birmingham.
Scouting Chattanooga
The Mocs head into the weekend with a 15-8 overall and 3-5 conference record. Chattanooga has lost their previous two conference matches against Samford and Mercer. Morgan Romano leads the team in kills with 310, and Paige Gallentine leads the team and conference with 416 digs. The Citadel emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Chattanooga on Sept. 22.
