BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The SoCon second-place Samford Bulldogs scored two goals in the first 14 minutes and three in the first half on the way to a 3-0 victory over The Citadel on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened:
5' – SAM scored on the first shot of the match to jump out to an early lead.
14' – SAM doubled its advantage as it scored on its first two shots of the game.
15' – CIT attempted to answer quickly off a corner, but
Ariana Paez's shot missed wide.
39' – SAM scored just before the half to hold a 3-0 lead going into the break while also carrying a 13-2 advantage in shots.
48' –
Maggie Melogy's shot three minutes into the half was turned away by the SAM goalkeeper.
73' – CIT was unable to capitalize on a pair of corner kick attempts as their lone shot attempt was blocked.
The Bulldogs were unable to muster another shot in the final 17 minutes.
Inside the Numbers:
2 – Kennedi Walker, the sophomore defender, made her first start of the season after making 15 a season ago.

Zoe Santos made her third appearance of the season, playing the entire second half and making two saves.
